One of Southern Indiana's Leading Electrical Contractors
Founded in 1951 by Melvin Kallenbach, Mel-Kay Electric has long been regarded as one of southern Indiana's leading electrical contractors. Electrical installation for a significant number of major industrial, commercial, and institutional projects in the Tri-State area has been provided by Mel-Kay.
Our highly skilled electricians have been trained in accordance with the standards required by the IBEW, and many of them have advanced training in specialized areas to better meet the needs of our customers. In addition, our work force of electricians and technicians is stable, and among the finest and most professional in the electrical and communications industries.
In 2004, Melvin Kallenbach’s daughter, Linda Garrett, assumed the helm of Mel-Kay as president of the company. With more than 30 years of experience in the business and trained by her father, Linda has continued the company’s tradition of providing top-quality electrical contracting for the commercial, institutional and industrial sector.
In 2007 Mel-Kay moved from its home of 56 years to a new location at 1511 N. Garvin Street in Evansville, Indiana. Built in 1922, the former furniture factory was renovated to accommodate all the operations of an electrical contracting business. Retaining many of the historic architectural features of the old building, but combining those with contemporary elements, a workplace that is both functional and visually appealing was created.
